BIM-Loggy Project: Development of a Digital Twin for an Industrial Plant for the Construction of Zero-Emission Housing Buildings DIB 4.0
Residential buildings consume 30% of primary energy in Europe each year. Therefore, actions in the field of sustainable construction are a key component of all energy policies.
The issue of building energy consumption can be addressed in different ways, for example:
- Through energy management of building consumption during operation;
- Through building renovation;
- Or through sustainable construction strategies. The third strategy is the most efficient and is applicable to newly built housing.
Sustainable construction is a way of designing and constructing buildings that minimize environmental and social impact while maximizing economic benefits and people’s quality of life. This optimization is determined by a broad range of stakeholders and value chains that make the coordination of activities more complex.
The implementation of an effective sustainable construction strategy requires the appropriate digital tools to manage quality and sustainability throughout the entire building life cycle (i.e. conception, manufacturing, use, and dismantling).
Within this framework, the overall objective of the project is to contribute to the optimization of industrialized construction through the development of a digital twin capable of managing all the factors that affect quality and sustainability in the field of sustainable construction, focusing on a prefabrication manufacturing process for high-rise buildings.
Specifically, the digital twin integrates BIM with models of the prefabricated component manufacturing process, including an energy model and an internal logistics model.
The final result will be a web-based tool that, using the digital replica of an industrial plant for the construction of modular and high-rise industrialized housing as its foundation, integrates the data required to assess its actual operation within time frames relevant to the production process.
