BIM information management and document control for the digital twin of BonÁrea's new industrial centre in Épila, Zaragoza
At ATBIM we have led the BIM information management and document control work for the development of the digital twin of BonÁrea's new industrial centre in Épila (Zaragoza).
The project covers the coordination of the BIM models from the different disciplines (architecture, structure, MEP and process engineering) and their consolidation within a Common Data Environment (CDE) that serves as the basis for the operation and maintenance of the asset.
The main objectives of the engagement include:
- Defining the information requirements of the project (PIR/AIR) and the exchange flows between the different stakeholders.
- Implementing a CDE that centralises all documentation and federated models.
- Establishing review, approval and traceability protocols aligned with the ISO 19650 standard.
- Preparing the as-built BIM model as the basis for the digital twin to support future plant operation and maintenance.
This project is a clear example of how the BIM methodology, applied rigorously from the design phase through to handover, makes it possible to build a digital asset aligned with the physical one, supporting decision-making throughout the whole life cycle.
