Benefits of using PowerBi and BIM in the design and execution phase:
In BIM how...
Do we face decision-making in a changing environment such as project design and construction?
Do we provide certainty with BIM to the person in charge who has to make the decisions?
Do we transmit the information that our models contain, in the clearest and simplest way? Can we only work with plans and tables?
1. Real-time display:
By combining BIM with data analysis and visualization, significant opportunities are unlocked to improve decision making, optimize efficiency and carry out projects more successfully. In this post, we will explore how the combination of BIM and PowerBi tools that we use in our daily life at ATBIM Building Engineering.

2. Detailed data analysis:
Data integration requires a first quality analysis (sorted, filtered and classified...), and PowerBi gives us the ability to perform these analyzes in a more in-depth and detailed way. Thus, users can investigate specific aspects such as the use of materials, specific parameters, phases, model organization, etc.
By analyzing this data holistically, you can identify areas for improvement, optimize designs, and make decisions based on real-time data to achieve optimal project performance.

3. Early conflict detection:
The BIM methodology is already known for its ability to detect possible conflicts and problems in the design and planning stages. But creating visualizations in PowerBi, which highlight these potential conflicts, allows teams to address the issues. Before they become costly obstacles during construction.
What if we take one more step? If we relate them to the execution cost? If we relate it to parameters of zones or spaces? ..
Managing information centrally in PowerBi has these advantages: everything is related to our model, without overloading it and without laborious interference matrices that never convince everyone.
These developments that we propose at ATBIM provide freedom and give the possibility for each agent to combine what they want and how they want depending on their business interests.

4. Progress and budget monitoring:
Monitoring project progress and budget management are essential in the AECO sector. PowerBi can take project progress data generated by the BIM methodology and convert it into intuitive graphs and dashboards. This allows project managers to monitor progress in real time, identify potential delays, and take corrective action to keep the project on track.
Apart from real time, something even more real is to monitor existing changes in the budget and their consequences. For this, do we have a copy of the previous one? Are we opening and closing? Better a history of the budgets in the same panel, by versions, where we can compare with a click how our budget evolves, right?

5. Effective communication:
These dashboards facilitate communication between agents using complex data, providing accessible information for all interested parties.
In the AECO sector, most of the problems are communication. Therefore, improving communication is improving the project. And these generated reports and visualizations improve this process because they can be shared with clients, contractors and other parties involved in the project.
This effective communication improves mutual understanding and reduces the possibility of misunderstandings, which in turn leads to smoother collaboration and more satisfying end results. Once information and project management panels were created, after urging all agents to use them and verifying their effectiveness, it was time for the data to speak, not us. A picture is worth a thousand words (or emails).

In summary, this combination of information-based tools and technologies (PowerBi and the BIM methodology) allow us to increase the potential of the data generated by all agents in a project to save time and money by improving decision making.
From ATBIM we can achieve more efficient, profitable and ultimately successful projects. Do you believe it or are you our next challenge?
